Alice Theresa Kacher, age 94, of Ft. Atkinson, IA, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2020, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 201 Oak Street, Fort Atkinson, IA, with Rev. Nick Radloff presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Ossian Senior Hospice, PO Box 98, Ossian, Iowa 52161.

Alice Mihm was born February 7,1926 to William and Anna (Croatt) Mihm on the family farm near St. Lucas, Iowa. She attended St Luke’s Catholic school until the 8th grade.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Kacher August 20th, 1947 at St. Lucas. They farmed near St. Lucas, before purchasing the family farm near Ft Atkinson, where they farmed all their lives.

To this union were born four children: Cheri, Kris, Bob and Tom.

Alice was an avid baker, enjoyed gardening, playing organ and singing in the church choir. She was member of Catholic Order of Foresters, Jackson Home Makers, Rosary Society and South Winn Golf and Country Club.

Alice is survived by her children Cheri (George) Selke, Rochester, MN; Son in Law, Nels Gjvere, Atlanta GA; Bob (Colleen) Kacher, Clive, IA; and Tom (Cindy) Kacher, Decorah, IA. Her Grandchildren: Christopher Jerabek, Lisa Jerabek, Scott Bullerman, Angie Metz, Carrie Godfrey, Kiley Kacher, Brandon Kacher, Hailey Kacher and Brendon Kacher. Great grandchildren: Rylee Metz, Cooper Metz, Tyler Jerabek, Cora Godfrey and Emery Preston. Sister-in-law: Charlotte Mihm, Ft. Atkinson, IA

Alice was preceded death by her husband, Mel Kacher, Daughter, Kris Gjvere, Grandson, Michael Jerabek. Parents: William and Anna (Croatt) Mihm Sisters: Alfreda (Clet) Koshatka and Bernadine (Al) Dietzenbach, Brothers: Marinus (Margaret) Mihm and Don Mihm. Sister-in-law: Irene (Louis) Shores. Father and mother-in-law: Frank and Mayme (Jirak) Kacher.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Ossian Hospice for their kindness, compassion and care they extended to Alice.
