VAN PELT.—At his residence in Pleasant township, on the morning of the 14th, James S. Van Pelt, aged 77 years.
Mr. Van Pelt was one of the pioneer settlers— coming here in 1853 we think; but there is no data at our hands which we can use for a proper obituary.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Oct. 14, 1827 and is buried in Phelps Cemetery. This doesn’t agree with the age above stated.
