Jacob Hohenshelt died at his residence in this place Saturday morning, Sept. 4th, at the advanced age of 78 years. He came to Iowa and settled on a farm about two miles north of here in the year 1851, and has resided continuously in this township ever since. The funeral occurred from the church of this place at 2 o'clock, Sunday, Sept. 5, the Rev. J. Q. Dickensheets officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born December 25, 1818 and is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery.
