—James Tyler, the aged sire of the well-known family of Tylers, died at the home of his son-in-law, Calvin Brown, in this city, Tuesday evening, at 8 p. m. Funeral at 10 o’clock this morning. A fuller history of the deceased will be given next week.

OBITUARY.
JAMES TVLER was born in the town of Marden, County Kent, England, April 2, 1812, and died in Decorah Sept. 7, 1897. He was married to Lucy Bassett, June 21, 1834, who died Jan. 20, 1890. Eight children were born to them, six of whom survive. All have families and live in different parts of the Union.
Mr. and Mrs. Tyler came to the United States in 1845, and to Winnesheik county in October, 1853. Soon after coming here he bought the south half of section 2 in Decorah township, of Col. J. W. Taylor, and on it he resided until 1893, when he came into Decorah to live with his daughter, Mrs. Eliza Russell. Death resulted from paralysis, and came to him quietly, and he passed away without a murmur at the good old age of 85 years, 5 months and 7 days, His remains were buried in the Russell cemetery, Canoe township, Sept, 9th. There were present at the funeral services throe children, seven grand children and two great grand children.
