DIED.
William Russell aged 76 years. Deceased was born in Morgan county, Ills., in 1822 and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Myron Hall in Ossian. Iowa, Sept, 1st, 1897. Mr. Russell was the head of a family of three, a wife and two daughters. The wife and one daughter have been dead over eighteen years. He came to Iowa in l855, and settled in this county, which, with the exception of one year, has since been his home. He spent three years in the army during the late war, belonging to Co. A. 13th Iowa Infantry. He was brought to his old home for burial, which took place under the auspices of Col. Hughes Post. G. A. R., sermon by the pastor of the Baptist church. He was laid at rest beside wife and daughter, who preceded him to the silent land. He rests to await the resurrection in what is known as the Russell Cemetery, north of the city. Another old settler is gone, and another old veteran is mustered out.
