OBITUARY.
Miss NETTIE D. BUCKNAM, daughter of Charles W. and Rachel C. Bucknam, departed this life at her home near Castalia, Friday afternoon. July 30, 1897 at 2 o'clock. Born May 1, l870, the death of her earthly abode has been 27 years, 2 months and 29 days.
In October, 1891, she joined the Castalia lodge of I. O. G. T. and was an active member up to the time of her death. She was always interested in the cause and gave it her hearty support and approval. The place of her birth, of her childhood plays, of her youthful reveries, of her womanly toils, was also the place of her heroic suffering during the latter part of her life, and where the Holy Angel, with bugle, found her and summoned her to the dear land of rest. Naught but praise whispers in our ears as we think of the noble life of our dear one. Her aims were elevated; her purpose determined; her integrity unquestioned; her frugality praiseworthy; and her patience enduring; her hope high. She was of good cheer, even up to the very last. Her generosity still lives—her faithfulness can not be forgotten;—her virtue will ever be worthy of emulation;—her perseverance has left a mark never to be erased. The influence of her unselfishness and self-sacrifice will never die. Her friends were many and firm, for she was one of the tried and true. She was one that lived for others more than for herself. She gave more than she received. Her troubles, and her sufferings, and her grief, she carried in her own bosom, lest, a ray of happiness be destroyed for them. Her name shall be read in glory, in the list of names of the heroines unknown to the outside world. Her dream that she was going to meet her mother will be fully realized, and her future will be one of peace and eternal bliss.
