OBITUARY.
Martin Potts, whose death on the 3rd was noticed last week, was born in Pennsylvania, Dec. 12th, 1836. He came west in 1856 and for a few years made his home in Fillmore county, Minn. On Oct. 24th, 1858 he was united in marriage with Miss Betsey K. Harkness, of Newburg township, who survives him. To them were born one son and two daughters. The son, George I. has his home at Owatonna, Minn. The daughters preceeded their father to the other shore. For more than twenty years Mr. Potts had lived in Hesper, one of our most industrious and useful citizens. Did you want a house or barn built, did you want a wagon repaired or did you want a man to run a stationary or traction engine-none could do it better than Mr. Potts. As far back as 1858 he was engineer in the Russel Taber flouring mill and could tend the hoppers and bolts, as well. As a constable Mart could always be relied upon to serve papers on rich and poor alike. And when it came to voting he thought a poor Republican much better than the very best Democrat. A devoted husband a loving parent and a loyal citizen has gone, and no other man in the community would be missed more than he will be.
