Death of a Pioneer Preacher.
Friends of Rev. John W. Crawford, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church at Frankville, received intelligence last week of his death. He died at the home of a son on the 13th inst.
From an obituary notice that has come to our hand we learn that Mr. Crawford was born in Lawrence Co., Indiana, Nov. 20th, 1836: received a collegiate education; followed this with a theological course in Princeton: then came west: united with the Dubuque Presbytery, and the Frankville church was his first pastorate. This relation lasted from 1863 to 1869; then he went to Vinton, where he remained until 1872, when he removed to Woodhull, Ill. His pastorate at the latter place lasted until 1880, when, on account of ill health, he went to Kansas. In the succeeding 16 years poor health was his bann, but he filled pulpits at East Topeka, Wamego, Hopkinsville, (Ky.,) Ellsworth and Trenton in Kansas. In December last illness siezed him, to which he succumbed, and a life of usefulness and worth closed May 13th. His wife and five of seven children survive him.

Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Oakdale Cemetery in Monett, MO.
