DIED.
HALVORSON. In this city April 29th{sic}, Guro, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Christopher and wife of H. Halvorson of Springfield township.
Deceased was born in Vang, in Valders, Norway, Aug. 17th, 1836, emigrated with her parents to America in 1853, and settled in Winnesheik Co., where she was married March 26th, 1855. Mrs. Halverson was an earnest Christian, and a member of the Angustana branch of the Lutheran church. She had been an invalid for many years, and for one year she suffered from a tumor. All the attention that a loving husband and five children could bestow was hers to the last. Though hard to part with the dear one, great comfort was theirs to see how she longed and prayed that Jesus would soon let her come home, that blessed heavenly home where seven children awaited her, and where she with them is now waiting for the dear ones to join them. The death of a Christian is the mysterious passage from this life into that indescribably beautiful life above.
Funeral from the home of her daughters April 21st, sermon by Rev. Huns, and the remains of a good Christian woman were laid to rest in the Norwegian cemetery at Decorah.Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows she died April 19, 1897 and is buried in Lutheran Decorah Cemetery. The above date of death can't be right as it shows she died 8 days after the date of the funeral.
