Death From Scalding.
Calmar Courier:—Last Sunday a sad accident occured at the home of J. C. Kubish about two miles west of town. Mrs. Kubish had boiled a kettle of milk for the chickens and set the kettle down off the stove (presumably to cool.) Her four year old child backed up against the kettle and the collision caused the child to sit down into the hot liquid. A sister of the child, the only other person at home except the mother, went on foot to Spillville for her father who was at church. He secured the services of Dr. Young. The child died the next morning.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was George but the name is spelled Kubesh. It shows he was born Sept. 3, 1893 and died May 24, 1897. He is buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
