Micheal Stoskoph, one of the old former residents of Bailey Springs, died at the home of his son William near Sattre, from Bright’s decease, on Monday, Dec. 11th. Mr. Stoskopf was born in Eagenheim, Elsaas, Germany, on Nov. 7th. 1822, and came to this country in 1843, locating in Canada, where he was married to Miss Kathrine Lobenstein in 1847. In 1865 he and his family came to this county and settled on a farm near Locust where he lived for some years. Of late years he lived in and about Bailey Springs until about two months ago, when he moved to his son’s at Sattre. Mr. Stoskopf was a strong and robust man, always willing to work. He had never been sick until about three weeks before his death. Eleven children were born {to} Mr. and Mrs. Stoskopf, of whom all are living. He also leaves his dear beloved widow who is very poorly. The children present at the funeral were Andrew, Mrs. M, Hoffman, and Mrs. J. Malli, of Minneapolis, Minn., Valentine, of Hesper, Geo., of Sattre, Mrs. H. Kimber, of Burr Oak, and Mrs. A. Barth from here. The services were held at the Locust German Lutheran church, Rev. Seehuus officiating, and the body was laid in rest at the Locust cemetery.
