Another Old Settler at Rest.
E. P. Lawrence died at his home in Lincoln township on Wednesday, last week, and was buried beside his wife at Ossian on Friday.
Of the earlier events of Mr. Lawrence’s life there is but little known by the friends who survive him. He was a New Yorker, born Dec. 9th. 1826; married and came to Iowa in 1866. He had owned lauds in Military township for a dozen years before, and thereon he located and lived until some eight or ten years ago, when he removed to a farm in Lincoln township, whereon he died. His wife died two years ago, leaving no children. The only known blood relation who survives him is a sister residing in Wisconsin. There are other relatives by marriage, chief of whom are Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Jones, of Bloomfield township, and three of their sons. Mr. Lawrence was an estimable man in all his personal relations. The REPUBLICAN will miss a name from its list that has held a place for thirty-three years.
