Death of Gottleib Jaeger.
Tuesday morning Gottleib Jaeger died at his home on Water street after a lingering illness from catarrhal consumption. Mr. Jaeger was born in Germany in 1834 and was married in 1859 to Fredericka Bondick. In July, 1868, they came to America and settled in Decorah, where their home has since been. To them ten children were born, eight of whom, with the widow, survive. They are Herman, Louis, Richard and Lucy, Mrs. C. D. Bolger and Mrs. F. H. Mackenstadt, of Decorah, Mrs. Wm. Worth, of Dubuque, and Julius, whose home we do not now know. Mr. Jaeger was a cobbler by trade, but was forced by ill health to seek other employment some years ago. The funeral will be held this afternoon at two o’clock from the residence.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone photos in Phelps Cemetery shows his name as Johann Gotlob. It shows he was born Aug. 5, 1834 and died Sept. 19, 1899.
