MRS. CHARITY E. WINGATE whose maiden name was Willsie, was born Jan. 11th, 1834, in Hemmingsford, Canada, and was married to Henry P. Wingate, Sept. 10th, 1856. They came to Burr Oak in the spring of 1859, where she lived until last November, moving from the old home to Chicago, where in spite of the best medical skill and tender care she passed to the life beyond April 26, 1899. Mrs. Wingate was a member of the M. E. church in Burr Oak and her life adorned her profession. She leaves three children:—Mrs. Geo. P. Bent, of Chicago, Mrs. Orin Porter, of West Superior, Wis., and Miss Julia Wingate, of Chicago. With them five brothers and one sister and a large circle of friends are left to mourn her departure. Her husband, Henry Wingate, died Feb. 16th, 1898, and her only son, Weston P. Wingate, died in Kansas City last September. On Monday, May 1st, at 5 o’clock {illegible} all that was mortal of Mrs. Charity Wingate was laid to rest in the Burr Oak cemetery.
