—Geo. Hess died yesterday morning. He has been suffering for a year or more from a gun shot wound and on Tuesday submitted to an operation which it was hoped would relieve him, but he could not withstand the shock.

—We sincerely regret that a previous mistake was made in our item, last week, concerning the death of George Hess. Mr. Hess had never been shot, but the report that he had was given to us by some person, and received in good faith, but as yet we have not been able to trace to any definite source. For more than a year he suffered from an abscess on the kidney and it was for the purpose of removing the abscess that the operation was performed. The shock was too great and he succumbed.
