Sudden Death at Ridgeway.
E. A. Bakken, who for the past twenty years has conducted a general store in Ridgeway, died suddenly at about three o’clock yesterday afternoon afternoon.{sic} He has been suffering for a few months past with Gastritis or gas on the stomach, which caused fainting spells. He has, however, been around all the time and apparently in good health. Thus his untimely death which came without a moment’s warning was a great shock to his family and the community.
He was sitting at his desk when he felt one of his spells coming on and he motioned to his wife, who was in the store, and they went up stairs. He took off his coat and cap and sat down in a chair. He told his wile that he guessed he had a bad spell this time. Doctor Kaasa was sent for and arrived within five minutes. He tried to tell the doctor about his condition and the doctor told him he had better lie down, but death had claimed him and he fell back, dead within fifteen minutes from the time he had left the store.-Ridgeway Review.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Aug. 13, 1869 and died January 29, 1913. He is buried in United Lutheran Cemetery.
