Otto Soltow, residing near Kendallville, passed away Saturday last after an illness of a couple of days, death resulting from a hemorrhage of the brain. The funeral was held at Kendallville yesterday.

The community was shocked Saturday morning to hear of the death of Otto Soltow, one of our prosperous young farmers. The cause of his death was hemorrhage of the brain. He was ill only about two weeks. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.

Adolph Paul Soltow was born in Garnavillo, Clayton county, Iowa, Feb. 21, 1877, and passed away from mortality to immortality, Saturday morning at 12:30 o’clock, January 25, 1913, aged 33 years, 11 months and 4 days.
His early boyhood days ware spent on a farm near Castalia. When 16 years old he moved with his father to Winneshiek county, four miles from Cresco, and has resided in this county ever since.
He was married March 7, 1900, to Miss Cora Nelson. They began their home making on the old Nelson place near Kendallville, and have resided there to the time of his demise.
To this union three children were born; one daughter, Lois, aged 11, two sons, Paul and Oliver, aged 8 and 6 years respectively. They, together with the bereaved wife, his father, step-mother, six brothers and three sisters remain to mourn his loss. Mr. Soltow was a man who had many friends, who deeply sympathize with his loved ones in their loss and who are all sad at his departure.
Mr. Soltow has been complaining for for{sic} some time of ill health, had previously suffered from erysipelas and two attacks of blood poisoning, but had not considered himself in any real danger until about a week ago when at¬tacked by cold and slight grip, developing into hemorrhages. His sufferings the last day or so were severe, but God was merciful with death. He suffered no pain at the last.
Funeral services were held at the home at 11 o’clock Monday, Jan. 27, and at the Methodist church, Kendallville, at noon. Interment in the Kendallville cemetery.
The family and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
