ELLING OLSEN RAMSEY.
Death came almost instantly upon this pioneer settler in the northern part of Frankville early last Monday morning. He arose in his usual health, went to his barn to attend to his usual morning work, when he was stricken with heart failure, and, although carried immediately to the house, death had claimed him and all help was in vain.
Mr. Ramsey was born in Norway, June 15th, 1826, and was one of the early comers to this country. He first located in Wisconsin where he was married in 1851, and in the following year came over into Iowa, and chose a piece of land on the northeast quarter of Sec, 5, in Frankville township, on which he has lived all the intervening 48 years.
Deceased was a man of good character; being industrious, frugal and upright he acquired a competence which his sons and daughters are enjoying. Of these there are six living, to-wit: Nels, Butler and Peter, Mrs. Lewis Aarness, Miss Martha, a resident of this city, and Miss Lizzie, who is living at home with the surviving wife.
Funeral services were held yesterday in the Washington Prairie church.

Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows the daughter's name spelled Arness.
