Another Pioneer Passes Away.
The Cresco Plain Dealer contains an obituary of Stephen Osborne, born in Liverpool, England, June 12th, 1825, and died at Cresco on the 20th of October, 1900, From 1855 until 1896, Mr. Osborne lived on a farm near Plymouth Rock, which he sold in the latter year and moved into Cresco, where he has since lived. Mr. Osborne was twice married; in 1850, to Miss Sarah White at Evansville, Ind., who died In October, 1887, and subsequently to Mrs. Matilda Van Loan at Duluth, who survives him. To the first marriage four children were born, of which Mrs. E. M. Bovee, of Burr Oak, is the only one living in this vicinity. The remains were buried at Burr Oak on Sunday last. We know the deceased as a good citizen, and of whose memory acquaintances will have a kindly word.Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Burr Oak Cemetery shows the spelling of his name as Osborn.
