Nearly Wiped out a Family.
West Union Argo:—One of the saddest cases which has ever come under our observation has lately happened over at Clermont. Some months ago the store of Haug & Rowland was destroyed by fire with all its contents, and since then the insurance companies, or some of them have been haggling over a settlement. A week ago last Sunday forenoon Mr. Haug lost his little daughter, Margaret, and that evening the baby, Stella, also died. As if this were not enough to fill any man's cup of misery to overflowing, on Monday afternoon at five o’clock Mrs. Haug died. Mr. Haug and his only remaining daughter were also desperately ill, but at last accounts were on the mend. The disease which almost wiped out this entire family was diphtheria of a malignant type. We understand that the strict¬est quarantine has been kept and it is anticipated that there is no danger of its spreading. Mr. Haug will have the sympathy of everyone in his dreadful affliction. For further obituary see: http://iagenweb.org/boards/fayette/obituaries/index.cgi?review=372460
