A very sad instance of the fatality of diptheria comes from Clermont where, within forty eight hours, occurred the death of two children and the mother from one family. For a week or more rumors had been afloat that diphtheria of a very malignant type was at the home of C.G. Haug in Clermont. The report was verified last Saturday evening by the death of a little child. Sunday evening a second child died and on Monday afternoon the mother joined her two babies who had gone before. Three little girls and the father and mother comprised the family. All were sick at the same time. The father and oldest daughter, five years old, are reported as recovering, the other three are dead.
