OBITUARY.
FREDENBERG— In Canoe township, three miles southeast of Burr March 22, 1900, of dropsical affection of the heart. Mr. John Fredenberg, aged 81 years, 11 months and 20 days,
Mr. Fredenberg was born in New Jersey in 1818, but shortly after his parents moved to Canada where he lived till be came to Iowa in November, 1850, one of Winneshiek Co.’s earliest settlers. He settled on a farm in Canoe township which has since then been his home. He was married July 4, 1854, to Miss Eliza Jane Weeks, who survives him. To them were born two sons, Clark and Ralph. He was a good citizen and highly esteemed by all of the neighbors. For over twenty years he has been an active and worthy member of the Advent Christian church, in Burr Oak.
He has been in poor health for quite a number of years as the result of a slight paralytic stroke, though able to be about and do light work. In August, 1898, he was taken suddenly and severly ill, since which time he has been very feeble but has born his suffering without a murmur. The funeral was conducted by Eld. J. Ridley in the A. C. church.Transcriber's Note: Burr Oak Cemetery shows the name spelled Fredenburgh and that he was born April 1, 1818.
