James Casterton, brother of Ogden Casterton, of this city, died at his home in Fremont township, Friday, March 23d, from appendicitis. Mr. Casterton was a native of England, where he was born Dec. 11th, 1842. He came to America in 1861 and in 1864 enlisted In Co. C, 2d Minnesota Infantry, serving until the close of the war, when he was discharged at Louisville. He returned to Minnesota at once and soon after moved onto his farm where he died. He was married on April 16th, 1870, to Mrs. Annie Yates at Burr Oak, and two children, Mrs. A. G. Hudson and L. W. Casterton, with the widow, survive him. He joined the M. E. church in 1880 and has been a faithful member ever since. The funeral was held at the State Line church, Rev. Brown officiating.
