GEORGE R. EMERY.
George R. Emery, after a severe and protracted illness, died at his home four miles south of Burr Oak, Dec, 22, 1900, aged 78 years and 27 days, Mr. Emery was born in Ashtabula county, Ohio, Nov. 27, 1822, and moved with his parents to Stevenson Co., Ill., in 1833. He came to Winnesheik Co., Iowa, in 1860, and settled in Bluffton township, where he lived till about five years ago, when he bought the McIntire farm, where he died. For nearly forty years he was regularly elected and served as constable for his township.
He was married to Diantha McIntire, Feb. 23, 1853. To them were born thirteen children,—seven boys and six girls. One girl died in infancy. The others with their families and the aged widow, who is in feeble health, are left to mourn.
After funeral services at the home, conducted by Eld. Ridley, he was laid at rest in Burr Oak cemetery.

George Emery, who has been sick for some time past, passed away last Saturday night and was buried on Monday. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Burr Oak Cemetery and was born Nov. 22, 1822 and died Dec. 22, 1900.
