MRS. J. M. GOVE.
Death came suddenly and swiftly to Mrs. Gove, She was in usual health Friday afternoon, and acted the hostess most agreeably to callers upon her daughter, Mrs. Schall, who was absent from home but returned that night. It was only to find her mother in the grasp of the grip that went direct to her heart, and closed her earthly career, at eleven a. m. Saturday.
Susan Coonely Benedict was born in Ohio, March 29, 1847. Her parents died in her infancy, and she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Benedict. With them she came to Iowa in 1863, and in April, 1865, married Mr. J. M Gove. Their home was first in Hesper, and since September, 1879, has been in Decorah, where she has been known as a devoted wife and mother. Two children died in infancy, and three survive her, viz Carrie Gove-Schall, May Gove-Woodward and Charles R. Gove. Her husband, to whom she has been for many years all that a loving wife could be, also survives her.
