Tuesday evening The sad intelligence reached us this morning of the sudden death of Mrs. James Donald, after an illness of but a few hours. Yesterday afternoon about four o’clock, while sitting peeling apples, she suddenly dropped the knife she was using. Her little daughter near by, picked it up and handed it to her, but she was unable to hold it and immediately fell from her chair unconscious, in which state she remained until twelve o’clock. Mr. Donald had started in the morning for Chicago to attend the Fat Stock Show. He was intercepted on his way by telegram and returned to his desolate home this evening. Mrs. Donald, who was Victoria Peard, was born and reared on the Peard farm two miles south of Burr Oak. She was a bright, intellectual woman and will be greatly missed in the circle in which she moved.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in the Prosper Cemetery and was born March 6, 1850 and died Dec. 2, 1902.
