After a lingering illness, Mrs. L. J. Scofield died at her home three miles north of here Monday Dec. 1. The funeral will take place from the Centennial Church at ten o'clock Dec. 4 . We are not furnished with a biography of the deceased. The surviving husband and children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in this their sore affliction.

Nancy Jane Townsend was born in Bloomfield township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, March 6th, 1852, and died in the same township. Dec. 1, 1902, making her fifty years, eight months and twenty-five days old. She was married to L. J. Scofield in Union County, Dakota, in 1870, and leaves beside her husband, two daughters, one son and a little nephew Vern Townsend, who has made his home with them for some time. Mrs. Schofield was very ill for about four weeks. She was a member of U. B. Church for several years. The funeral was held from the Centennial Church Thursday, Dec. 4. Rev. Ross officiating A large gathering followed her to her last resting place.
