On Sunday morning about 11 o’clock, John Ness, brother of Mrs. John Moe and Gust Ness, our barber, departed from this life. John had been suffering for almost four years with consumption and knew his days were numbered. In the fall of 1900 he went to Colorado to see if the climate there could do him any good. But alas it seems John was too far gone, and with the care he was getting there things went for the worse. He returned the following spring and has stayed with his sister ever since. John was 24 years of age—the time when young men of his age are just beginning to gain for themselves a livelihood. He was buried yesterday in Glenwood township.

Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone Photos show he is buried in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery and that he was born July 28, 1878.
