John McMillan,the aged father of Mrs. U. G. Gruver of Decorah and Mrs. M. J. Nicholson of Springfield, died last week at his home in Elgin and was buried Sunday. He was one of the pioneers of Fayette county and for many years postmaster at Illyria.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Elgin City Cemetery and that he was born December 19, 1822 and died July 23, 1903.
