Frank Swehla was born Feb. 2, 1818, in Austro-Hungary. At the age of 36 he emigrated to this country and settled in Calmar township where, for nearly 37 years, he was a prosperous farmer. In 1891 he moved to Calmar where he has since resided. Though for the past six months his health has been poor, he was not confined to his bed until a few weeks ago. He died May 27, leaving a widow, one daughter and six sons to mourn his loss. The services were held at the M. E. church, Rev. E. L. Leaman officiating, and the burial made in the city cemetery.
