Death of Judge Hoyt.
Hon. Wm. A. Hoyt, a former Judge of the District Court for this and the other counties constituting the 13th district, died in Chicago last Friday. He had gone thither to undergo an operation thought necessary to prolong life, but carrying with it the risk of a speedy ending. The latest intimations say the difficulty was cancer, without locating its seat.
We have no data relating to his life. We knew him best as a public citizen. As a Judge he was cautious, painstaking, laborious, conscientious, impartial and honest. In his private life he was a home-lover, a Christian who honored his profession, and a citizen who was ever loyal to his neighbors in all things that helped upbuild his community in politics he was a democrat but never an offensive partisan. In his death Fayette, town and county, loses a valued citizen.
