John Kessel, who has been ill at his home north of Kendallville for the past few weeks, died on Tuesday last. The funeral was held at the home at 10 o'clock on Thursday and the body was taken to the Elliota cemetery for burial by the side of his wife, who died a number of years ago, Mr. Kessel was over 80 years of age and has lived on his farm for many years. He was a man who was greatly respected and loved by all who knew him and will be missed. He leaves four children to mourn the loss of a beloved father, Dr. George Kessel of Cresco, Mrs. Young of Canton, Minn., Mrs. Dean of Chicago and Miss Lizzie Kessel of this place, who have the heartfelt sympathy of all.
