Judge Hoyt Dead.
The friends in Decorah and Winneshiek county of ex-Judge W. A. Hoyt, of Fayette, are surprised and pained to learn of his demise at Chicago last Thursday evening. Judge Hoyt and wife started on an eastern trip, but arriving at Chicago were forced to abandon their plans by illness of the Judge. He went to a hospital in the city for treatment and an operation was found necessary, but he survived the operation only a short time.
Judge Hoyt was one of the best known jurists and lawyers in northeastern Iowa. He served on the bench of the district court of the 13th judicial district for a number of terms, being elected as a democrat. He was a man of profound legal learning and uprightness and honesty of character. His death is a loss to state, district and county.—Decorah Journal.
