BLOOMFIELD.
After an illness from consumption covering several years Mrs. J. Bloomfield died last Friday evening, May 1, shortly after six o’clock. Mrs. Bloomfield’s maiden name was Mary Catherine Nichols and she was born Feb. 20, 1837, at Lewis, Essex Co., N Y., where she was married to John Bloomfield Sept. 1, 1862. They came to Decorah in 1864 and this has since been their home. Four children were born to them, three of whom with the husband survive. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the family home, Rev. M. Willett officiating, and the remains were interred in the Phelps cemetery. A large company of friends gathered to pay their last tribute to an old resident and express by their presence their sympathy for the family. Mrs. Bloomfield has been a long and patient sufferer, and death came to her as a welcome relief
