Died in Milwaukee.
The sad and painful intelligence came to Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Wilson last Saturday that their oldest son, Guy, was dead in Milwaukee. No particulars accompanied the information. Mrs. Wilson’s brother, W. R. Smith, went to Milwaukee Saturday night and there he was met by Geo. Wilson, who had seen the news of his brother’s death in a Milwaukee paper at Phillips, Wis. To¬ether they made investigation and learned that Guy had been under a doctor’s care for two or three days and that a minor operation had become necessary. After eating his supper Thursday evening he went to his room, read for a time, and then went to the doctor to have the operation performed. Cocaine was administered to relieve pain the operation was performed without any trouble and Guy started to leave the office, when he was attacked by nausea. He soon fell into unconsciousness and the doctor tried all means in his power to restore him, but failing, had him taken to a hospital. This was about ten o’clock, and Guy lived until about 7:30 the following morning. The investigation did not indicate any carelessness on the part of the doctor, but it seemed that the patient was unusually susceptible to the drug, and what would have been an ordinary amount for the average person was too much in his case.
Guy was born in Decorah on April 24, 1873, and with the exception of a few months spent in the west has always resided with his parents until nearly three years ago when he went to Fond du Lac. From there he went to Milwaukee, he followed his trade as a lather, until December, since which time he has worked in a printing office. The remains were brought home Tuesday morning and the funeral was held at his home in the afternoon at three o’clock, Rev. K. W. Robbins officiating. The family have the sympathy of many friends in their affliction.

Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone Photos show his first name was Charles and that he is buried in Phelps Cemetery.
