Death of a Pioneer Mother.
The remains of Mrs. Jeddidiah Miller were brought to Decorah from Charles City, last Friday, for burial beside those of her husband. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church.
The maiden name of Mrs. Miller was Caroline Borden. She was born in Cazenovia, N. Y, Feb. 21, 1820, and death came to her in her eighty-third year. She came with her family to this county in April, 1850, and first settled on section 9 in Canoe township. Later they came to West Decorah to live and remained there until after the death of her husband. Since then her home has been mostly with her daughter, Mrs. Bailey, in Charles City. She was the mother of seven children, three of whom are living. They are Frank, of Corning, Cal., Mrs. Owen, of Elk Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. M. H. Bailey, of Charles City.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Phelps Cemetery shows she died December 24, 1902 and that her husband’s name was spelled Jedediah.
