Mrs. John Kafka Found Dead.
Calmar Courier:—This community was shocked to learn of the sudden death Tuesday morning, July 19th, 1904 of Mrs. John Kafka, Mr. Kafka works for the railroad company nights and when he came home Tuesday morning he was terribly shocked to find his wife dead. She was lying with her lower limbs and hips on the bed and the rest of the body hanging over the edge of the bed, the head resting face downward on the floor. He called his brother Albert and wife who live next door and Dr. Roome was sent for who pronounced her dead.
Coroner Jewell was summoned and an inquest was hold, the jury bringing in a verdict of death from epileptic convulsions, and the position she was in, testimony showing she was subject to epilepsy for many years past.
The deceased was 29 years old and was born at Conover. Her maiden name was Jennie Huphal and was married September 19th, 1896, to John Kafka and has since lived in Calmar She leaves a husband, mother and three brothers. James. Frank and Adolph, and two sisters, Frances (Mrs. Albert Kafka,) and Victoria to mourn her death.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery and was born in 1875. I question the spelling of her maiden name as it shows her sister's maiden name as Humpal.(Mrs. Albert Kafka)
