An Old Settler Passing Away.
This morning, July 22, 1904, occurred the death in our city of an old pioneer, Mr. Elling Taasavigen, who has been ailing for a number of weeks from a complication of diseases. Elling Taasavigen was born in Norway and was 81 years of age. He came to America 35 years ago. He was twice married. His first wife died in Norway. Of this union three children were born, Bunhild (Mrs. Andrew Verna,) Andrew who has been dead for many years, and Carrie. After coming to America he married Mrs Mariet Hogan. Of this union four children were born, Ed, Martin, Peter and Annie (Mrs. Anderson.)
Mrs. Verne, Mrs. Anderson, Peter and Miss Carry were privileged to be present to administer to his wants at the last. Besides the children he leaves a wife to mourn his departure.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon.—Calmar Courier.

Transcriber’s Note: Calmar Lutheran Cemetery shows he is buried there. The spelling of his name shows as Taasevagen and that he was born June 12, 1822.
