DEATH OF MRS. CLARK H. DAVIS.
A Resident of Deborah in Pioneer Times Passes away at Ansonia, Conn.
A copy of the Evening Sentinel, of Ansonia, Conn., brings us unwelcome news of the death of Mrs. Clark H. Davis, a reader of the REPUBLICAN for thirty or more years ago, since Mr. and Mrs. D. were residents of this city. The particulars given by the Sentinel are these-
Mrs. Julia Davis, wife of Clark H. Davis, passed away at her home on Prospect street, early Sunday morning. Mrs. Davis had been sick for several weeks, her condition for two or three days past being such that little hope of recovery was held out.
She was 63 years old and except for a few years passed in Iowa, had lived all her life in this vicinity. Mrs. Davis was a prominent member of the Women's Relief Corps, G. A. R., the Daughters of Liberty and Ells-Wood Rebekah Lodge, I. O. O. F. She was also a member of Christ church and an active worker of the Sunshine society.
Mrs. Davis was a woman of many estimable qualities, and her demise will be sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends. Besides her husband, Mrs. Davis leaves one son, Perry C. Davis.
Mrs. Davis, though a resident of Decorah for only a few years, retained a deep interest in our local affairs. Mr. Davis has the warm sympathy of the REPUBLICAN in his bereavement.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia, Connecticut and that she was born in 1841.
