John Heckle, whose feeble state of health has been reported for some weeks, died April 26. Mr. Heckle was born in Pittsburg, Penn., August 12, 1812. Married to Mary Ann Stewart in Freeport, Ill., Sept. 15, 1848. Came to Winneshiek county in 1855, and has been a resident of Burr Oak for over thirty years. Of his seven children, six are still living, also the wife with whom he has lived almost fifty-six years.
