EASLER.
David Easler was born in Alsace, Lorraine, Germany, March 7, 1832. In 1838 he moved with his parents, to America, settling in Suffield Township, Portage county, Ohio, and came to Decorah in 1853, settling on the farm in Freemont township, Winneshiek Co., where he resided until his death, and where by his integrity and fair dealings with his fellow men he has won warm esteem and high respect.
In 1854 he married Sarah Glimps. To them was born two children, Mrs. Woodward of Cresco, and Derius of Colorado.
Mrs. Easler died in 1857 and in 1860 he was again united in marriage to Adeline Merkel. Ten children blessed this union: George, John, Dave, Edel, Mrs. Craig, Mrs. Ruschhaupt of Harmony, Mrs. Bullis of Clearmont, Minn.; Mrs. McEvitt of Anoka, Minn.; Mrs. Wells of Cresco and Mrs. Pfendler of Indianapolis, Ind., all of whom with several grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters survive him, He also leaves a host of friends as the large attendance at the funeral well demonstrated. His loving wife passed to the great beyond March 30, 1905. Since that sad day his daughter Mrs. Ruschhaupt has devoted herself to making his home a haven of comfort.
The summons came to him on Wednesday, May 6, 1908, after seven months of intense suffering, during which time he made quiet preparations for the final leave taking all earthly treasures and while the physical forces were disolving{sic} he slept at last to wake with loved ones in that home to which he longed to go, his Savior being his constant thought.
