Obituary.
In the appropriate place will be found a notice of the death of GOMER E. ROBERTS. He will be remembered by most of the residents of Decorah, and must have become somewhat familiarly known to other residents, as “short jour.” When we came to Decorah, he came with us, in the hope that a change of climate might work a beneficial effect upon his health. For years he had been a sufferer from Asthma - from Asth¬ma in its worst form. To those who knew him best it has been a wonder that he withstood these attacks for as long a period. For a while the air of Iowa seemed to benefit him; but about four months ago there came a change for the worse, and after a two months' sickness he started for home - it seems to die. Little thought he, or we, that in eight weeks after that parting, we should be penning a tribute to the memory of him whom we loved as a brother. For years, busi¬ness had brought us into an association that was always something far more than the usual relations of employer and em¬ployee. We mourn his loss as a friend; for years had tried his friendship, and many shocks that would mar ordinary friendships only rivited the chain a little stronger. It is a consolation to us to believe that he is at rest - after a life of pains and struggles with disease such as few men know or can dream of, the idea of rest for him cannot but be pleasant. - He was a Christian, and we think “it is well with him.” For him death had no sting, and of him the grave won no victory.DIED
