Mrs. Syd Buckland died at her home in Ridgeway Wednesday, April 20, of consumption. Mrs. Buckland has been a great sufferer all winter and finally the frail, tired body was called to its rest last Wednesday about noon. Her husband’s mother, Mrs. Buckland, of Cresco, has been caring for her about ten weeks, and all that loving care could do was done for her but to no avail, The funeral was held at the United Lutheran church last Saturday morning at eleven o’clock, Rev. Thompson officiating. Mrs. Buckland was a daughter of Andrew Smeastadt, was about 29 years old and had spent most of her life in Ridgeway except a few years when she moved to Cresco with her husband. She was married to Sydney Buckland in 1893 and she leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband two little boys, Andrew and Berney, who will never know the loving care of a mother.
