The sad news came to Decorah relatives and friends, Tuesday, of the death of Peter Rosa of Frankville township, one of the older members of the well known pioneer Rosa family, and brother of Samuel Rosa who was killed only a few weeks ago. We are not in possession of data concerning his life and can only say that for long years we had sustained pleasant relations with him and knew him to be a man highly respected by all who enjoyed his acquaintance. The funeral will be held Friday at Centennial church.

Peter Rosa, whose death was recorded last week, was the eldest son of A. P. Rosa, a pioneer who came to this county in 185l. Peter was born in Ulster Co., N. Y , in 1831, and came with his parents, when a lad of sixteen years, to Iowa. They settled first in Clayton county, but after the Winnebago Indians were removed to Minnesota the father found land in the southern part of Frankville township that suited him, and out of which he made a thousand acre farm that was afterwards divided among his eight children. Peter also took up a claim on which he made a charming home after his marriage, in 1867, to the daughter in another pioneer family—Miss Cassindina Webster, to whom there was born one son—W. P. Rosa. Mr. Rosa was a man of intelligence; in politics a Democrat, but not an active partisan a citizen in the best sense of the term, worthy of high regard by all who knew him, and one whoso passing will be a serious loss to the community in which he lived and moved.
