Betty J. Hanson, 91, passed away peacefully at Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green Aug. 7, 2018. As per Betty’s wishes a private celebration of her life will be held.
She was born in Decorah July 29, 1927, to the late Sam and Jean (Marcy) Johnson. She moved from Iowa to the Blackhawk area near Sauk Prairie where she worked at Badger Army Ordinance for many years. Betty J. Pete was united in marriage to Carmen Hanson Jr. Apr. 27, 1983. Carmen preceded Betty in death on Sept. 30, 1997. Betty enjoyed crafting, playing cards, slot machines, and was known for her love of the Green Bay Packers as evidenced by her Packer dish towels.
Betty is going to be missed by her children: Dennis (Francis) Pete of North Freedom, Wis.; Sam (Tammy) Pete of La Crosse, Wis.; Linda (Dan Eveland) Coffey of Arena, Wis.; Melody (Kurt Frisenger) of Madison, Wis.; Lisa (Todd) Shaw of Sheboygan, Wis.; a brother, Michael (Rosalind) Dietz of Waterloo; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen; a stepfather, Dale Dietz; two brothers, Clifford and Charles Johnson, all of Decorah; granddaughter, Carrie Jo Pete of Madison, Wis.; a great-granddaughter, Layla Schwartz of Sauk City, Wis.; and nephew, Kippy Johnson of Decorah.
Betty’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Greenway Manor for their wonderful care of Betty.
