On Monday last week came the sad news to our town by telegram that the remains of another former resident of Burr Oak would be brought here the following day for burial, Charles Willsie of Chicago. His only son William, and the wife, who was known herein her girlhood as Martha Manning, accompanied the body. Funeral services were held at the home in Chicago, and a brief service here. The flowers which loving hearts had contributed were numerous and beautiful. It was thought to be quite a coincidence that his mother, Mrs. Jane Willsie, was buried here Dec. 19th, only one short month before his burial. Charles Willsie was born in Upper Canada, town of Dorchester, twelve miles from London, Aug. 13th, 1843, and died at his home in Chicago Jan. 16, 1904, aged 60 years, in the year 1869 he moved to Kansas, and seven years since to Chicago. He was a faithful member of the M. E. church, and one of its officials. As an indication of his faithfulness, it is said that in the last three years he never missed the weekly prayer meeting but twice, and when his chair was made vacant in the church by death, so great was the sorrow of his brethren that the chair was draped, and a wave of sadness spread so completely over the membership that the usual Sunday service was omitted. Surely such an one will be sorely missed by his neighbors, friends and relatives. But earth’s loss is heaven’s gain. Beloved by his fellowmen and beloved by his God, and gone to be with Him in glory. For this transition he was readv, and expressed his complete reconcilliation{sic} to the Master's will. Heart trouble was the immediate cause of his decease; he was only ill for about ten minutes.
