Obituary.
Stephen Osborne died at his home in Cresco, October, 20th, 1900, aged 75 years 4 months and 14 days.
Deceased was born in Liverpool, England, June 12th, 1825. When 19 years of age he came to America making his home for a time in the state of New York. But the attraction of cheap land and a home caused him to come west, where in 1850 he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah White at Evansville, Indiana, who passed away October 26th, 1887. To this union four children were given them: W. S., of Metford, Iowa, Mrs. M. Bovee, Burr Oak, Iowa, and Mrs. Alpheus Woodward, Cloquet, Minn. In 1855 the deceased came to Iowa, locating on a farm two miles east of Plymouth Rock, Winnnihiek{sic} county, and where he continued to reside until he sold his farm and moved to Cresco in 1896, where he continued to the time of his death.
In January 1888, at Duluth, Minn., he was united in marriage with Mrs. Malinda Van Loan, who survives him. The funeral occurred Sunday, the interment being at Burr Oak where the remains of his former wife were interred. The surviving children of deceased were present during his last illness and at the funeral. Stephen Osborne was a kind husband, parent and neighbor, a good citizen and an honest man who had the respect of all who knew him.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone shows the spelling of the last name as Osborn.
