Clarence Riha, age 86 of Fort Atkinson, IA died peacefully on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home on the family farm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ft. Atkinson, IA with Rev. Daniel Knipper presiding, burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home Chekal Chapel, 201 Main Street, Fort Atkinson, IA and also after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Clarence Raymond Riha was born on May 27, 1932 the son of Joseph and Mary (Neuzil) Riha on the family farm. Clarence attended country schools. He farmed the family farm with his two brothers his entire life. He lost his right hand in a corn shredder accident when he was eighteen years old and continued farming. Clarence enjoyed the outdoors, especially mowing the grass. In his later years, Clarence and his twin sister Clara enjoyed going to the Miss Marquette and trying his luck with scratch tickets as a past time. Another enjoyment for Clarence was going out to eat lunch and celebrate birthdays, graduations and holidays with his neighbor’s family. He was lifetime member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA.
Clarence is survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends: John and Nancy Bakula, Fort Atkinson, IA.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Mary (Neuzil) Riha. Seven sisters: Twin sister, Clara Riha, Lillian (Robert) Polashek, Georgina (Julius) Novak, Mary (Felix) Wenthold, Angela (Dean) Fortney, Josephine (Louverne) Huinker and Helen (Gordon) MacMasters. Brothers: George and Joseph Riha.
