Transcribed by Joy MooreFORT ATKINSON - Bernard Phillips, 60, Mediapolis, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at Great River Medical Center, Burlington following a long illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at St. John's Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson with Rev. John Moser residing. Music was provided y the St. John's Choir.
Interment was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson with Kyle Rindels, James Ehler, Robert Phillips, Brian Kruse, Michael Phillips and Charles Phillips as casket bearers.
Bernard Victor Phillips was born Dec. 8, 1941 near Ridgeway, the son of James and Mary (Snyder) Phillips. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School. He resided at the Winneshiek County Home, Nora Springs Care Center and for many years at the Mediapolis Rest Home. He enjoyed playing bingo, watching TV and visits from his brothers.
Survivors include two brothers, Ben (Geraldine) Phillips, Harmony, MN and Bart (Janice) Phillips, Fredericksburg and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Beatrice Kruse.
