Gerald “Pudge” Pavlovec
CALMAR - Gerald "Pudge" Pavlovec, 66, Calmar, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home, Decorah following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Calmar with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30 at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar with a 5 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation was after 10 a.m. a t the church on Wednesday.
Gerald "Pudge" Pavlovec was born on Feb. 8, 1935, the son of Frank and Stella (Jirak) Pavlovec, near Calmar. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. On June 6, 1969 he married Phyllis Vrzak at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma. Pudge worked as a farm hand and for the City of Calmar. He then worked almost 30 years at Wiltgen Construction, Calmar, retiring due to ill health. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, polka music and going for drives.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Tony) Zafft, Decorah and Shelley Pavlovec, Calmar; two sons, Dennis and Delbert Pavlovec, Calmar; two grandsons; three sisters-in-law, Nellie Pavlovec, Calmar, Lou Pavlovec, Fort Atkinson and Ruth Pavlovec, Lawler and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Alfred, Leonard and Francis and one sister, Marcella.
